The forthcoming anniversaries of regaining independence by Poland and Israel’s declaration of independence were the focus of a telephone conversation between Polish and Israeli Presidents Andrzej Duda and Reuven Rivlin, according to the president’s chief aide.
Krzysztof Szczerski said on Monday that the talk focused on the centenary of Poland regaining independence, the 70th anniversary of the declaration of independence by Israel, and the 75th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, all of them to be observed next year.
The two presidents have also confirmed their will to jointly take part in this year’s March of the Living, on the site of the former Nazi German death camp Auschwitz on April 12, 2018, Krzysztof Szczerski said.
The March of the Living has been organised since 1988. It is traditionally held on Holocaust Memorial Day, which was established by the Israeli parliament in 1951.
